Why You Need to Move from Windows 10 to Windows 11

Time to Upgrade: Why You Need to Move from Windows 10 to Windows 11

Change can be hard—especially when it comes to upgrading your computer. But if you’re still using Windows 10, it’s time to start planning for a switch. Microsoft has officially announced that October 2025 will bring the last regular update for Windows 10. After that, security updates will only be available through the Extended Security Update (ESU) program—and only if you’re willing to pay extra.

So, what does that mean for you?

Windows 10 Is Nearing the End of the Road

After October 2025, Microsoft won’t be releasing any more free updates for Windows 10. That includes bug fixes, system enhancements, and—most importantly—security patches. Without those critical updates, your computer becomes increasingly vulnerable to viruses, malware, and cyberattacks. If you want to stay protected, supported, and fully functional, now’s the time to upgrade.

How to Check If Your PC Can Run Windows 11

Before you can install Windows 11, you’ll need to check that your computer meets the system requirements. An easy way to do this is to install all available updates in Windows 10. Once your system is fully updated, go to the Windows Update section in your Settings. If your computer qualifies, you’ll see the option to upgrade to Windows 11 right there.

Windows 11 Minimum Requirements

To upgrade, your PC must meet these system requirements:

  • A compatible 64-bit processor
  • At least 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB of available storage
  • Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0

If your system doesn’t meet these specs, it won’t be eligible for Windows 11. Most PCs from the model year 2017 and older will not meet the requirements.
