Say NO to ALL hp printers. Why?
- HP is updating ink Jet printers so that they will NOT allow 3rd party ink. Only HP Ink can be used. There is a lawsuit pending, but we continue to hear from clients that this is happening to them.
- HP has a long history of printer software challenges. Recently they started deploying HP Smart which works will ALL printers (instead of individual hp software’s). This a good concept and does work for basic printing on most devices, it has several DIS-advantages.
- They require giving up your email address to used any “advanced” features (which leads to more spam).
- Most HP scanners can do double sided scanning – HP Smart still doesn’t support this.
- No ability to select where scans are saved on your computer.
- HP Smart does not allow renaming a printer – if you have 2 identical printers, or just want to give your printer a simple name – “Bobs Printer”. HP Smart won’t recognize it.
Say NO to ALL Ink Jet Printers. Why?
Arizona is just too dry. All wet ink dries up when a printer sits for a couple weeks without printing.
“Eco Tank” printers (where you fill a tank with ink) tend to have the tubes from the tanks dry up.
Say YES to Laser printers!
- Laser printers use dry toner that is burned onto a page with a Laser. It never dries up and can sit for years without replacing ink.
- Laser cartridges cost more up front than Ink cartridges, but they last 4-5 times longer, so they are cheaper in the long run.
- Laser printers are “built to last” where Ink jet printers are considered “disposable”.
